i’ve been fixed on this powdered green tea for the past few months – it is good and good for you.  thru the summer weather i’ve been drinking it cool or room temp by shaking it up real good in a juice bottle.  for these chilly autumn mornings it’s nice to go hot.

for whatever reason – i’ve been putting off buying a proper chasen (bamboo matcha wisk) – i’m sure to settle on one soon.

in the present i am using this wonderful spoon that was made for me by Rodney at Penland in the Spring of 2oo5.

the stoneware bowl is a simple beauty made by former Carbondale potter, Nancy Barbour, who has just taken the helm at Mendicino Arts Center.

if you click and expand the photo above – you can see a green dragon rising from the bowl – or that may just be me…

it’s off-season, Charlie Brown…

IMG_1695Somehow October has found our heels.  The Roaring Fork Valley is giving us Indian Summer, Autumnal perfection & Winter is Here – weather – all at the same time.  Which is nice…

We refer to this time of year as the off-season in this part of the world.  The Farmers’ Market is coming to an end, we’re putting the H/M Gallery to bed for a bit and there are a few more windows for me to get into the studio for a stretch.  Lots of pottery in the hopper.

Of course the ‘things to do in the off-season’ list has been growing since July – so we’ll see how all that goes.

monday morning tea

gung fu tea

i’ve been off the bean for a bit now and really enjoying my tea time.  this morning it was a nice Tieguanyin with an YiXing teapot from Strange Imports (that i’ve been test driving) and a nice Warren M. teabowl that is dear to me.  the basin is a rough little bowl i made at the Bray last summer which keeps growing on me…

+ some yoga&jazz

sunday funnies – !Happy Autumn! edition

we made it gang – it’s autumn again.  the most reflective, melancholy, romantic and nostalgic season of them all – perfect season for a moody potter – such as myself – to get down to business.  here’s a Peanuts strip from 22 September, 1963:

Peanuts1963258  and here are a couple of pots – a little vase of mine that found a home yesterday and a set of bound jam jars that i wish i made – and just might try my hand at in studio today:
