a dear friend and mentor had some kind words for me yesterday that made my week and helped fan the embers of a studio practice that has had much in its way this summer.

reflecting on a piece of half glazed bisqueware lying about  – he said – ‘i couldn’t tell if it was for my flowers or to club someone over the head’

of course some pots serve multiple purposes.  and as always there is precedent in our shared history.

this little gem i dug up over at the Mingei Museum website.

and nevermind the size – people were smaller back then…
